Moving Forward Into the Future

“We are going forward into the future…not back into the past.”

The world is slowly opening again after the year that was 2020 and the desire to travel and go out into the world is burning greater than ever. I had already planned to take a year off of travel and focus on writing about the places I’ve been and where I wanted to go next, when the world turned upside down. And, after more than a year of not having scanned a boarding pass or gotten a new stamp in my passport, I’m ready.

I’m ready to rest my head on airplane windows and wonder about at the world below. I’m ready to eat a meal alone over looking a beautiful view and escape the everyday world that greets me. I’m ready to get lost along a winding river and watch the crowds of people as they pass by. I’m ready to spend all day pondering the paintings housed in great museums. I’m ready for train rides, awkward encounters and many marvelous travel memories ahead. I’m ready.

So where to next? There are no planned trips yet but first on my list will be heading back to cities that made me first fall in love with travel; London and Athens. After settling back into those two places high on my list is Laos, New Zealand, and Japan.

Laos is a country I’ve felt drawn to for a long time. I haven’t ever had the courage to go but as I turn the page into the future I’m reminded to not let anything hold me back. So Laos I will see you soon.

New Zealand is important for my quest to complete the tips of the Polynesian Triangle. After visiting Rapa Nui in 2019 I only have New Zealand left to complete the triangle. I feel a deep connection to people that originated in these islands and it’s incredibly important for me to go, listen, learn, observe and respect.

Japan has been recommended to me by so many travelers and I haven’t spent any time in Asia. My goal will be to combine this and Laos into one trip (fingers crossed). This will most likely be my first trip of 2022 and I could not be more excited thinking about the possibilities.

It’s time for me to let the world leave it’s mark on my heart again. It’s time for healing and wholeness and a lot of inspiration.

Inspiring Women to Know

While writing here on the blog has been nonexistent in the last several months, I’m incredibly grateful to be back writing again. Last month I wrote a piece for Iridescent Women and I’m so happy to share it here as well.

10 Inspiring Women to Follow on Instagram

Creative writing was one of my first outlets I can remember. I would spend hours writing stories or reimagining events that had happened but when I got older my confidence was shaken and writing wasn’t the same. In fact, I let the comments of others get in my way for so long that I started to believe them. When Iridescent Women reached out about writing a piece for them I was so grateful that I had finally let go of the shame monsters enough to believe in myself to start this blog and let my love writing and communication be seen.

So here’s to these ten incredible and inspiring women.
